Obituary

In loving memory of Paul D. Gubaci, age 84, of Pinckney, who peacefully passed away on December 28, 2023. Paul was the cherished husband of Connie Gubaci and the devoted father of Stephanie (Kenny) Cyganski and Bethanie (Eric) Lawson.
A loving and proud grandfather, Paul leaves behind a legacy of love to Olivia Lawson, Jackson Cyganski, Emilia Lawson, Zachary Lawson, and Evan Cyganski. His memory will be treasured by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Paul's life was enriched by his brother-in-laws, Kevin Ely (Jerry Fox), Randy (Robin) Ely, as well as his best friend Joachim Calbus, and dear friends Tom Lieb and John Svec. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Elizabeth Gubaci, and siblings Charles Jr. (Eunice) Gubaci, Bette (Jim) Schrock, Andy (Carol) Gubaci, Helen Girard, Mike (Bonnie) Gubaci, Wilma Long, and Carol Ann (Allen) Hayward.
Paul, a retiree from General Motors, served his country with honor as a sharpshooter in the US Army. In his free time, he found joy in unraveling the threads of his family history through genealogy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association in honor of Paul's memory.
His kindness, warmth, and love will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.

Condolences

  • Some of my most favorite childhood memories were our family reunions that Connie & Paul hosted. They treated everyone like family and welcomed each and every person into their lives with unconditional love. In high school, Paul helped me complete a family tree for one of my classes. I still cherish memories from all the hours we spent in front of the computer, with Connie & my mom laughing and telling stories about our relatives. Mady & Brody still talk about how Connie & Paul came down a few years ago and attended their flag football and soccer games! We love & miss you Paul. You are forever in our hearts. Sending our love & prayers; Becky, Eric, Mady, & Brody Varner
  • I have several memories of Paul but what stands out is that he was always dressed sharp with a tie. Truly don’t remember a time that we would see Connie and not Paul. Thank you Paul for always being there for our family. Barb Bryant Hardin
  • Oh Stephanie- I’m so sorry to hear this. Sounds like a great person! We will be thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. Laurie Arvy
  • My deepest condolences to the family. Laurie Robinson
