Obituary

(April 5, 1925 – January 4, 2024)
Primitivo Gutierrez III, 98, of Van Buren Township, MI, passed away on January 4,2024. Primitivo, also known as Prim, was born on April 5, 1925, in San Antonio, TX. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, andwill be deeply missed by all who knew him. Prim had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. He had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including sewing, painting, gardening, cooking, and bird watching. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and cherished the company of others. Prim was a natural storyteller and loved sharing his life adventures with those around him. In his early years, Prim and his family traveled from Texas to Michigan, facing language barriers along the way. However, he was never afraid to learn something new and embraced the challenges that came his way. Whether it was as a child in school or as an 80-year-old man learning how to use a computer, Prim’s thirst for knowledge was inspiring. Prim served his country with honor and dedication as a WWII Navy Gunner from 1943 to 1946. His military service was a testament to his bravery and commitment to protecting his fellow countrymen. After his military service, Prim embarked on a successful career at Ford Motor Co., where he dedicated 38 years of his life. His hard work and dedication made a lasting impact on the company and his colleagues. He was a dedicated member of the local VFW Post 4434 where he served on the honor guard for over 15 years, attending more than 700 veteran funerals in Belleville and other local communities. Prim’s faith was deeply important to him, and he found solace and inspiration in his heart. He worshipped in his own way, finding comfort and guidance through his personal beliefs. Prim is survived by his loving children Kathy, Linda, Gloria, Debbie, Elizabeth, Primitivo, Jeffrey, Deidre, Erin, and David; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah Jane (Bunny), and his sons Jimmy and Willie. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. Prim’s family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable life and bid him a fond farewell in June. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May Prim Gutierrez III rest in eternal peace.
