Obituary

David Douglas Hoste, a lifelong resident of Michigan, passed away on November 18, 2024, in Wyandotte, just a day shy of his seventy-second birthday. Born on November 19, 1952, in Detroit, he grew up with a strong work ethic and dedication to his community.

David was a proud member of the Electrical Workers Union and served diligently at IBEW Local 58 throughout his career. His commitment to his craft was evident in all he did, and he was respected by colleagues and friends alike.

David leaves behind his devoted wife, Margaret Hoste, who stood by his side through all life's challenges and triumphs. Together, they raised a loving family and created a legacy that will endure for generations.

He was the cherished father of Brooks Hoste, Nathan Hoste, Emily Hoste, Thomas Crane and his wife Megan, and Jack Crane and his partner Destynie Lakomy. David's love extended to his grandchildren, Tommy Crane, Avery Crane, and October Liska, who brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his siblings, who held a special place in his heart: Carol Alayne and her husband Michael Spencer, Loni Hansen and her husband Scott, Thomas Hoste, Steve Hoste, Rick Hoste and his wife Colleen, Lucy McCrave and her husband Jim, and Alisha Szajkowski.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ralph and Helen Hoste, and his sister, Leeanne Zanotti.

David Douglas Hoste will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his unwavering work ethic, and the warmth he brought into the lives of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Condolences

  • So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Loni and I were lucky enough to have Dave over for dinner last month when he made a quick trip up north to check on his river house. It was a short visit, but full of good conversations and it was nice for Loni to get to see her big brother that she really looked up to. Condolences and prayers to Marge and all of Dave's family and friends. He is going to be missed by all that knew him. Scott Hansen
  • Dave was a good guy. Worked many jobs with Dave and Rick. My condolences to the family. Dave Hoste
