Obituary

Donald A. Hamilton passed away suddenly at the age of 61 on April 9th, 2020. For those that knew him, this may come as a surprise, but it was not from one of his ‘Don’t Do This at Home’ events. Donald always showed us how to have fun. He taught us that doing things the right way is nice, but failing miserably is what makes the best memories. And boy, did Donald give us a lot of the best memories. There was the time Donald and his son Daniel showed us how not to use an Estes Rocket by igniting it, while holding it, as it was duct taped to a styrofoam plane. So even though it finally flew on the 6th try, it still failed horribly as it quickly circled back directly into his audience. Classic Donald. Another time he ran out of lighter fluid while barbecuing and decided to use gasoline instead. There is a reason you do not hear of people doing this, and that is because very few survive to talk about it. Donald may not have invented it, but the phrase ‘Don’t Do This At Home’, sums up Donald to perfection. Donald also had a passion for tinkering, boating, snowmobiling, spending time with his family and of course enjoying the lake he lived on. Although Donald has left us too early, he also left us a trail of laughter, stories, love, and of course his 2 signature lines “Tell Me a Story” & “Life is Good” to remember him by. With every random item that will remind us of Donald in the years to come, he will still be able to make us smile. God bless you Donald, and may you rest in peace. Donald is survived by his loving partner of 18 years Nancy Miller, his son Daniel (Rebecca) Hamilton, daughter Stacy (Greg) Poole, brothers Eugene (Pat) Hamilton, David (Debbie) Hamilton, sister Denise Billington, sister-in-law Pearl Hamilton and his ten grandchildren; Caitlyn, Raechel, Myranda, Alexis, Jessica, Joshua, Lily, Hannah, Geno and Lia, and multiple nieces and nephews. Donald is preceded in death by his parents Theron (Geno) and Daisy Hamilton, and brother Dennis Hamilton.
