Obituary

Fay Mary Hassell, born on October 21, 1937, in Wyandotte, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 87. A devoted homemaker, Fay dedicated her life to her family, always placing her children and grandchildren at the center of her heart.

Fay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Hassell; her cherished parents, Comral and Hazel Conant; her dear sons, Kevin, Keith, and Kris; her brother, Roger Conant; and her sister, Carolyn Buckner.

She is survived by her loving children, Karolyn Burns, Kenneth Hassell, and Kara Hassell, who will continue to honor her legacy. Fay's grandchildren, Amanda (James) Block, Frank (Ashley) Hassell, Noelle Hassell, Robert Burns, and Steven Hassell, held a special place in her life, as did her great-grandchildren, Addison, Justin, Petey, Inez, and Nyla. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Mary Hassell, who shared many cherished moments with her.

Fay found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was baking delicious treats, discovering treasures at rummage sales, or spending evenings playing Bunco with friends. She also had a talent for redecorating her home, frequently moving things around to create a fresh and welcoming space.

A visitation in memory of Fay will be held at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM on May 9, 2025, followed by a Sunset Burial at Michigan Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather to celebrate a life lived with love and devotion, remembering Fay for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Condolences

  • I am so very sorry to hear of your mother's passing. My nieceElaine told me. I think I remember meeting her when we were all up in St Ignace & on Mackinac Island. I know you loved her very much and how much she will be missed. You will all be in my prayers! Debra McDaniel
  • My dearest Miss Fay. So many years of memories we have had. Watching funny movies with Kara, driving around Grosse Ile looking at Christmas lights and many more. We almost always got together when I would go back to Michigan after moving to the other side of the country. I will miss you dearly. Your sense of humor and laugh will always put a smile on my face. Elaine
