
Obituary
George Wayne Hegedus, a devoted family man and lover of all creatures great and small, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Allen Park, Michigan. Born on January 14, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, George lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 78.
George dedicated many years of his career to Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a skilled tradesman before retiring. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his community and his passions. A proud member of the UAW Local 600, George also found solace and fellowship at Resurrection Church in Lincoln Park, where he was an active participant.
A passionate animal lover, George's heart was always open to his beloved pets and all animals. He cherished the time spent outdoors, finding peace and joy in nature's embrace.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ollie Hegedus, and his granddaughter, Amber Nicole. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his son Gary (Julie) Hegedus and daughter Shelly (Marvin) Metcalf; nine grandchildren, Brett (Anna) Hegedus, Rian (Stacy) Hegedus, Brandon (Raven) Hegedus, Matthew Metcalf, Ashlee (Andrew) DeLozier, Lauren (Brendan) Lindisch, Lyndsey (Kevin) Tanner, Marshall Hegedus, and Nina Hegedus; and nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jackson, Connor, Oliver, Emma, Rosemary, Luke, Caroline, and Brynley. He is also survived by his brother Charles Hegedus, beloved ex-wife Linda Asher, her daughter Kelsey (John) Daniels and their children Scarlett, Grayson, Quinnley, and Josephine, as well as his cousin Bobby and Annette Marrs. His cherished fur babies Maggie Moonpie, Sugar, and Verb will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Michigan Memorial Park.
