Obituary

HAMMOND, James, age 84, of Romulus, April 28, 2017. Beloved husband of Marilynn Hammond. Loving father of Sheran Burroughs, Teresa Reyes, Kimberly Johnson and Kevin (Cheryl) Hammond. Dear grandfather of Michael Reyes, Cristy Reyes, Ashley Hammond, Michael Hammond and great grandfather of Nicholas Shuwaloff and C.J. Faust. He is survived by his brothers David (Brenda) Hammonds of St. Pauls, NC and Burley Sr. (Shirlene) Hammonds of Lumberton, NC and his sisters Annie-Ree Hammonds of Shannon, NC and Lucille Hunt of St. Pauls, NC. He is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family and friends. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. James was a simple man and hard worker that raised and provided for his family on a laborer’s wage. He was always willing to help out his family in any way possible and never asked for anything in return but for his family to love one another. During his spare time, he had a passion for wood working out in his garage. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and enjoying his grandchildren. Something he looked forward to every year was traveling to Las Vegas with his wife. The place he enjoyed most was going back to North Carolina where he grew up. He enjoyed visiting family and sitting around with his brothers playing music with his guitar. He is preceded in death by his parents Council and Ivory Hammonds and his brother Waitus Hammonds.
