JULIA RIVERA HOLSOMBACK
April 12, 1931-August 25, 2024

Julia R. Holsomback, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, after an extraordinary life. Julia was born in Pharr, Texas, daughter of the late Apolonio and Paula (Zuñiga) Rivera. After graduating from PSJA High School, Julia attended business school before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she met U.S. Army serviceman and the love of her life, Bobby F. Holsomback.

Julia and Bobby married, moved to Detroit, Michigan, where Julia cherished her role as housewife, doting on her six sons, before starting to work at Ford Motor Company as a copy editor. Julia earned her associate degree from Henry Ford Community College and wrote beautiful poetry. Julia retired from Ford Motor Company at age 72, and enjoyed traveling the world, reading, knitting and sewing, and visiting with and feeding her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby and their stillborn Baby Girl, her mother and father, her dear sisters, Oralia and Olivia, and her dear sister-in-law, Delia.

Julia is survived by her six sons: Eric (Cynthia), Stephen, Kevin, William (Dawn), Mark (Ivy), and Bruce (Jennifer), her grandchildren: Bethany, Holly, Kimberly (Jeremy), Scott, Sarah, Andrew, Matthew, McKenna, Kiara, Alexandria, and Cherie (Derek); as well as her great-grandchildren: Daisy, Jaxson, Nolan, Luciana, Aidan, and Landon.

Julia is also survived by her dear brother, Rafael Rivera, dear brother-in-law Noe Rodriguez, and her dear nieces and nephews: Patricia, Maria, Reynaldo (Rebecca), Rolando (Melinda), Irma (Mike), and Cesar.

A service will be held to celebrate Julia’s life and honor her faith on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home at 30895 W. Huron River Drive, Flat Rock, Michigan. Visitation begins at 12:00 pm with a Catholic funeral service at 3:00.
