Kenneth Lee Haan, 77, passed from this life to his heavenly home on December 6, 2023, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born in Hudsonville, Michigan on November 12, 1946, Ken was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, a distinguished combat veteran, and a devoted Christian. Ken was a dedicated family man, and his private life was marked by sacrificial love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Haan, and their nine children, Sandy Foor, Laura Phillips, Amy Johnson, Rob Howell, David Haan, Matt Howell, Mark Howell, Paul Howell, and Anna Coleman, as well as his sister, Ruth Groot. He was blessed with 31 grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Webber and Evelyn Haan, and his brothers, Wesley Haan and Gordon Haan. Ken's professional career, like his private life, was characterized by remarkable and selfless service. He served as a military helicopter pilot and was a distinguished veteran of the Vietnam War. During his military career, he served for 11 years in the Army and for 21 years in the Air Force, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His commitment and bravery in uniform exemplified his unwavering dedication to serving his country. Following his active duty military service, Ken embarked on a career as a federal law enforcement agent in the Treasury Department. Rising to the rank of Special Agent, Ken served in a diverse variety of roles and assignments including undercover drug enforcement, forensic investigations, and as an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Brunswick, Georgia. Ken's expertise and guidance helped shape future law enforcement professionals, leaving a lasting impact on the field. Ken was a graduate of Central Michigan University, where he studied business. His educational background complemented his diverse experiences, contributing to his success in both the military and law enforcement. In addition to his professional achievements, Ken cherished his time with family and friends. He was known for his kindness, steadfastness, understated sense of humor, and unwavering support. Ken's legacy will be carried on through the memories he created and the love he shared with his family. A private family interment will be held to honor Ken’s life.
