Obituary

Linda Lou Hughes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 78. Born on November 29, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Linda lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an exceptional sense of humor.

The daughter of Elmer and Rhoda Caldwell, Linda grew up in a household that taught her the values of communication and empathy at an early age. Her parents, both deaf, inspired Linda to pursue a lifelong role as an interpreter, bridging worlds with her skills and nurturing spirit. She dedicated her professional life as a School Interpreter for the Deaf, making a profound impact on countless lives through her work.

Linda was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Joseph Hughes Jr., with whom she shared many adventures and travels. Together, they embarked on numerous journeys, creating memories that Linda treasured dearly. A devoted fan of Kenny Rogers, she enjoyed listening to his music and found joy in crafting, garage sales, and reading—each a testament to her vibrant and curious nature.

Linda leaves behind a loving legacy in her children, Sherri (Dean) Veverica, Kelly Hughes, and Joseph (Vanessa) Hughes, and her adored grandson, Brody Veverica. She is also survived by her dear sister, Shirley (Ralph) Arehart, who was not only family but a lifelong confidante and companion.

Linda's humor and warmth touched all who knew her, leaving a lasting impression of kindness and laughter. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

May she rest in peace, reunited with those she loved and forever remembered by those she left behind. Her cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
