Obituary

Peggy Reynolds Haynes, born on June 29, 1932, in Freeburn, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in Superior Township, Michigan, on September 28, 2024, at the age of 92.

Peggy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived a life filled with love and compassion. She spent 68 wonderful years married to the love of her life, James Haynes, whom she met while rollerskating in Kentucky. Peggy and James shared a deep bond that was a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

Peggy's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. She had a remarkable talent for gardening, often being able to grow any plant from seemingly nothing and even revive plants that appeared beyond saving. Her garden was a vibrant testament to her green thumb, filled with beautiful flowers and tomatoes that brought joy to all who saw them. She also enjoyed walking, finding peace and solitude in the simple act of taking a stroll.

A devoted Christian, Peggy generously volunteered her time at her church, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing her with strength through all of life’s trials. Peggy's home was always filled with the delicious aroma of homemade meals and baked goods. She delighted in cooking and baking for her family, ensuring that there was always an abundance of food whenever people gathered at her home.

Peggy cherished her family deeply. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren, often babysitting them and creating countless cherished memories. She especially enjoyed spending winters in Florida, where she could relax and bask in the warmth of the sun. Her heart, however, always belonged to Kentucky, and she spoke fondly of her beloved home state.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband James Haynes, her son James Haynes Jr., her mother Margie Dotson, her father Alex Reynolds, her siblings Bill Reynolds and Harry Reynolds, and her brother-in-law Richard Williams, Peggy's legacy continues through her surviving family and friends. She leaves behind her children Pamala (James) Favio, Brenda (Christopher) Teklinsky, Cynthia (Randy) Baker, and daughter-in-law Kris Haynes. Her grandchildren Christopher (Deb), Jennifer (Matt), Steven (Paige), Jon (Megan), Starr (Jordan), Nicholas (Claire), Casey (Aaron), and Carol (Ed) will forever remember her love and guidance. Peggy was also blessed with great-grandchildren Alena, Brice, Christopher, Olivia, Lilliana, Ella, Brynn, Caleb, Piper, Tori, T.J., Harland, and Harris, as well as great-great-grandchildren Asher and Emmett. She is survived by her sister Phame Williams.

Peggy Reynolds Haynes will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, devotion, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
