Obituary

Robert Evan "Bob" Hinze, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 4, 2024, in Livonia, MI. Born on August 21, 1956, at MT Carmel Mercy Hospital, Bob lived a vibrant and passionate life for 68 years.

A dedicated Mechanical Engineer with Ford Motor Company, Bob spent his career crafting the vehicles that carried countless families on their journeys. His ingenuity and commitment to excellence shaped not only his work but also inspired those around him.

Sports were a cornerstone of Bob's life, providing joy and camaraderie. Whether it was managing his fantasy football, baseball, or hockey leagues, or celebrating the Super Bowl—his favorite holiday—Bob's enthusiasm was infectious. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler, competing in numerous tournaments. Later, golf became his pastime of choice, particularly enjoying rounds with friends and family.

A man of deep faith, Bob cherished his relationship with God and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a devoted member of Northridge Church in Plymouth, Michigan, and enjoyed attending services with his mother and father-in-law at Morningstar Old Regular Baptist Church.

Above all, Bob's heart belonged to his family. His grandson Wyatt was the apple of his eye, and he found immense joy in being a loving pet dad to his dogs Dottie and Banjo, and his cat Praline. A history buff at heart, Bob delighted in reading and exploring TV shows about history, and the intricacies of how things are made.

Bob's pursuit of knowledge was relentless, earning three college degrees with an impressive 3.98 GPA. He was a professional student, exemplifying a lifelong love of learning. As a father, he devoted countless hours alongside his wife Debbie to homeschooling their sons, Jake and Lucas, instilling in them the values of curiosity and integrity.

Preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Hinze, father Paul Hinze, and all his grandparents, Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. Surviving him are his adoring wife, Debbie Hinze; his sons Jacob (Kaylynn) and Lucas; his cherished grandson Wyatt; his sister Linda (Larry) Bernhardt; his parent-in-laws Willis and Virginia Little; his sister-in-law Veronica (Dave) Martzolff; his nieces Lauren Bernhardt and Marissa (Matt) Powers; his nephew Jeremy (Noel) Martzolff; and many extended family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Bob has left shoes too big to fill, and the legacy of his life can be seen in the tears of his loved ones. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Tunnel to Towers, or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
