Shelby Jean Hensley, born on October 27, 1945, in Lochgelly, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Brownstown, Michigan, at the age of 79.
Shelby dedicated her professional life to guest relations in the medical field, where she was known for her compassion and dedication. Beyond her professional endeavors, Shelby found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound love for flowers, which brought beauty and serenity into her world. Her heart was always with her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Shelby also enjoyed returning to her roots in West Virginia, where she felt a deep connection to her birthplace.
Shelby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Shirley Hensley; her daughter, Margaret Hensley; her parents, Frank and Myrtle O'Boyle; and her brothers, Shirley Wayne O'Boyle and Johnny O'Boyle, and sister Sadie Handyside.
She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her daughters Vanessa (Mike) Sanders, Tammy (Wes) Steffey, and Valerie (Roger) Manders; her seven grandchildren, Amanda Long, Jessica (Jimmy) Cunningham, Ashley (Greg) Hudick, Brandy (Robert) Barnes, Wesley (Samantha) Steffey, Brittany (Jason) Rea, and Sarah (James Scoles) Steffey; and her twenty great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna, Ally, Jackson, Gabby, Wesley, Jace, Dawson, Mason, Grayson, Brooklyn, Colson, Anthony, Tyler, Hannah, Jamie, Makayla, Josie, Jessie Jane, and Korbyn. She is also survived by her brother, Frank O'Boyle.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. A service celebrating Shelby's life will follow at 7:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park immediately following the service.
Shelby's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
