Catherine Church Junge, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, in Wyandotte, Michigan, at the age of 74. Born on February 26, 1952, in Highland Park, Michigan, Catherine lived a life filled with love, music, and devotion to her family.
Catherine spent her formative years on Birchwood Street, where she and her twin sister, Barbara, along with a close-knit group of friends known as the Birchwood Group, forged lifelong bonds that began at the tender age of three. These friendships remained a constant source of joy and companionship throughout her life.
A talented musician, Catherine attended Trenton High School before completing her senior year at the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts. Her passion for music was evident in her skillful playing of both the viola and violin, and she was a proud member of the Allen Park Symphony Orchestra. Her musical talents were a gift she shared generously with those around her.
Catherine was a devoted homemaker, dedicating her life to nurturing her family with love and care. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where she formed lasting connections and enriched her life with knowledge and experience.
Her love for her family was boundless, and she found immense joy in the company of her beloved husband of over 50 years, Lee Junge. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children: Terri (Robert) McKnight, Abbie Junge, and Lee (Elizabeth) Junge, Jr. Catherine's legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Samuel, Clara, Jimmy, Steve, and Dorian, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Catherine is also survived by her siblings and in-laws: Barbara Church, Arthur (Xiu) Church, Lynn (Fred) Bisaro, Jeff (Tera) Junge, Lisa (Norm) Blaskay, and Beverly Church, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by Merton W. Church Jr., Mary S. Breiling, Merton W. Church III, and William Junge.
Catherine's warmth, generosity, and love for dogs will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
