Obituary

Donald Richard Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 8, 2025, in New Boston, Michigan, at the age of 95. Born on October 24, 1930, in Munising, Michigan, he led a life marked by hard work, dedication to family, and a love for the great outdoors.

Donald proudly served his country as a Korean war combat veteran in the United States Army Infantry, carrying the values of service and commitment with him throughout his life. After his military service, he spent his career as an ironworker, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.

Donald's passions were many, but they all centered around his love for the outdoors. He found joy in snowmobiling and cherished visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he often went fishing and hunting. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed boating, always finding peace and adventure in nature’s simplicity. Donald also had a fondness for “putzing,” spending countless hours tinkering and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cesidia Johnson, and his parents, Harry and Gertrude. Donald is survived by his loving children, Denise (Charles) Ruoss, Kevin (Nancy) Johnson, and Gary (Nancy) Johnson. He was a proud grandfather to Kevin (Reyna) Johnson, Tony Johnson, Greg (Flo) Ruoss, Adam (Chelsea) Johnson, Lisa (Mike) Norris, and Vinny Johnson, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to eight wonderful great-grandchildren.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place at "The Witness Crematory" located inside Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. Donald's inurnment will be held at Michigan Memorial Park.

Donald's legacy of love, strength, and adventure will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey.
