Private Family Time

JOHNSTON, Paul C., age 91, of Canton, beloved husband of Mary Johnston, passed into eternal life on January 09, 2022 after an extremely full, productive and wonderful life. Welcoming him into heaven is his first wife Ruth Evans, sister Donna Pankey, sister Wanda Antczak and his brother James “Dick” Johnston. Paul was the loving and devoted father of Linda (Ted) Scoggins, Cheryl (Greg) Gueldenzopf, Randy (Martha) Johnston, Karl (Terri) Vehrenkamp, Kathy (Neil) Bastian and Cindy (Dave) Wilson. Dear grandfather of April, John, Richard, Shawn, Randi, Markee, Lauren, Elise, Cory, Amanda, Rebecca, Lauren, Taylor and Hunter. Dearest great grandfather of Ashley, Morgan, Conlan, Abby, Anna, Evan, Olivia, Ross, Brady, Madison and Rey. Paul loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating or gardening. In addition to spending time with his family, one of his favorite things was to sit in the swing at the farm in Belleville. While the farm was small in size, he loved to make it big by raising chickens, turkeys, and cultivating a massive garden. Paul was raised to be strong and independent, and taught his children to have the same traits leading to their own very successful lives. Paul was a career Air Force veteran, and was fiercely proud of his service to his country. He retired after 20 years, having stations in Colorado, Washington DC, Alaska, Michigan, and Thailand. He was a lifelong and very active member of the Masons, serving in many leadership positions notably, including Grand High Priest. Due to Covid, the family has chosen that the in-person service will be private. Paul’s cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
