Obituary

Billy Donald Kirksey, born on August 24, 1941, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on March 9, 2025, in Wyandotte, Michigan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

Billy was a proud veteran of the National Guard and a dedicated member of several community organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Police Associates (F.O.P.A). His commitment to these organizations reflected his deep sense of duty and camaraderie.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Albert Kirksey and Mattie Kirksey. Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Revetta Kirksey, and their cherished sons: Brian (Debbie) Kirksey, Byron (Renee) Kirksey, and Barry (Jessica) Kirksey. He leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Neva, Kole, Kori, Jocelyn, Nicolas, Bella, and Penelope, as well as a great-grandchild, Graham. Billy is also survived by his dear brother Bobby Kirksey and sister-in-law Betty.

Billy's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, camping, snowmobiling, boating, and his pool league. His presence will be missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, March 16th, from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. A service to honor and celebrate Billy's life will be held on Monday, March 17th, at 11 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Billy Donald Kirksey. May he rest in eternal peace.

  • Byron and family. We’re so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a great guy. I’ll always remember him loading a neighbors free patio table and four chairs on the top of his golf cart for me. And enjoying cold drinks at the Mexican restaurant then taking a cruise around FMB. May we all be blessed to see him again in paradise where there’s no illness and all good days! Prayers for all of you. The Rutkey’s
