Obituary
David John Knowles, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 87. Born on September 20, 1938, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, David lived a life marked by dedication, love, and laughter.
David proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, an experience that instilled in him a strong sense of duty and resilience. Following his service, he embarked on a successful career as a plant manager at a chemical plant, where his hard work and leadership were greatly admired.
Beyond his professional achievements, David found joy in staying active, often spending his leisure time on the golf course or observing the beauty of birds. His keen sense of humor brought smiles to those around him, and his warmth and wit were ever-present.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Diane Knowles, as well as his parents, David and Celia Knowles.
Family was the cornerstone of David's life. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always placing his loved ones first. His children, Michael (Brenda) Knowles, Juliann (John) Testy, Mark (Annette) Knowles, Robert (Amy) Knowles, and Amy (Eric) Munson, along with his grandchildren Arielle Knowles, Lily Knowles, Jesse Knowles, Nicholas (Anna) Testy, Alexander (Katelynn) Testy, Adam Knowles (Laura McLellan), Emma Munson, Jack Munson, and Sam Munson, and great-grandchildren, Gryffin and Isla, were the pride and joy of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be forever treasured.
In addition to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, David is survived by his sister, Beverly (Wayne) Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
