Obituary

KASENOW, Estella M., age 89, of Southgate, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2024. The family holds her memory close and cherishes the love she shared with us all. Her physical presence may be gone, but her spirit will forever guide and inspire us. Beloved wife of the late Fredrick Kasenow. Loving mother of Paul (Kimberly) Kasenow, Mark (Linda) Kasenow, Laurie (William) Crimando, and Jeffrey (Sheila) Kasenow. Dearest grandmother of Kate (Joseph Volpe) Kasenow, Matthew (Meredith) Kasenow, Erin (Calvin Gray) Kasenow, Shelby (Joseph "Pepe" Finch) Kasenow, and great-grandmother of Walter and Calvin. She is also survived by her sister Rose Santana (Orlando Perez) and her niece Leah Montry. She is preceded in death by her parents Emeterio and Dolores Santana and her brother Joseph Santana.
While her children took great care of her these last four years as Alzheimer's wreaked its havoc, we remember her as a strong independent woman. Estella was born in Tenamaxtlan Mexico.  Emeterio, her father, immigrated from Mexico and joined the U.S. Army during WWII becoming a US citizen. Estella immigrated soon after at the age of 9 and quickly became a US citizen. She went on to raise a loving family and have a successful career at Kroger. Estella and Fred were eternally devoted to each other even though Fred passed suddenly in 1988. They were married 29 years.
Estella spent a lot of her time carefully tending her flower gardens. Her grandchildren have fond memories of her love of flowers. She was “Flower Grandmother” in multiple weddings. Estella loved dancing, socializing with many friends, and traveling the world. She was a faith-filled, avid learner and doer. We will miss her.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association.
