Irene Klaver, born on January 27, 1941, in El Paso, Texas, passed peacefully on June 22, 2025 in Trenton, Michigan at the age of 84. Irene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a woman with deep family ties and of pure heart, always putting others before herself. Her family reminisces on how she was the best cook ever! Always cooking for every holiday, serving her delicious food at the family store, giving food to people in need and serving children at the school she worked at for many years. One thing that always brought a smile to her face was seeing The Taylor Center kids come into the store to say hi.
Family was the cornerstone of Irene’s life. She shared 27 beautiful years with her loving husband Carl Klaver in which he referred to her fondly as “My Girl”. Irene joined Carl's family business at Hazels Party Store and Taylor Ice in Taylor, Michigan. Any customer that came into the store was always drawn in to Irene’s warmth and kindness, her smile could light up any room that she was in. Being a mother first she loved her kids and grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her children Jaime (Robin) Corona and Robert (Michelle Gentry) Corona, her adored grandchildren Ben, Alyson, Victoria and Jackson, and her beloved furbabies Cody, Dusty and Sophie (spoiling them as if they were her children). She is also survived by her brother Jessie “Chuy” Gonzalez.
Irene was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Corona, parents Max and Sarah Gutierrez, and brother Ben Gutierrez.
Irene’s legacy of warmth, kindness and generosity will live on in all who have known her. Anytime you smell a wonderful home cooked meal I hope that you picture Irene’s incredible smile. Let us come together to honor such a remarkable woman and loving spirit.
