Obituary

Joel “Teddy” Kreyger, born October 31st, 1942, transitioned peacefully from this life on February 5th, 2024. Born in New Boston, Michigan to parents Joseph and Madeline Kreyger, he was the beloved husband of Bonnie A. Kreyger, loving father of Alan (Nancy) Kreyger, Debbie Yassay, and Shelly (Jim) Woolford, and dearest grandfather of Lance Yassay, Hannah (Sean) Cline, Jillian Yassay, and Lauren Woolford. He is survived by siblings Judy Mills, James (Bevra) Kreyger, brother-in-law Sherman (Jeanie) Youtsey and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Madeline Kreyger.

Joel lived a life devoted to his family. His devotion can be best summarized by a quote he displayed in his home for many years:

“All that we are we will pass on to our children - our loves, our hopes, our dreams, our character. Therefore, let your thoughts be planted in rich soil and let your actions stand tall in a child’s eyes. Just as fruit does not fall far from the tree, children do not stray far from their heroes.”

Joel had a storied career at Woolf Aircraft Products, INC., where he started as a tool and die maker and excelled to General Manager, running the company before retiring in 2004. He cared deeply for his colleagues and was known to be an honest man, a fair boss, and a problem solver.

Joel’s love for the outdoors inspired him to take up lifelong hobbies of hunting, fishing, golfing, and gardening. Over the years, these hobbies allowed him to travel and explore nature with his loved ones and create beautiful landscapes on his property in New Boston. Always keeping himself busy with his projects, he began growing mums and turned it into a beloved family tradition for over 20 years.

Joel was a pillar of the many communities he belonged to throughout his life. His charisma, sense of humor, and infectious kindness were hallmarks of his character and personality. Joel will live on through our memories and the lasting impact he left on all of his loved ones. His family will remember him as a partner, a teacher, an outdoorsman, the weatherman, a jokester, an achiever, a listener, and a hero.

Joel's family will hold a celebration to commemorate his life - details will be communicated when available.
