September 2, 1924 – November 2, 2014 John Keeler, 90, of New Boston passed away Sunday, November 2, at his home. He was born September 2, 1924 to John L and Dorothy (Niemann) Keeler. Jack was born in Detroit, MI. He married Rosemarie Penxa 64 years ago on January 21, 1950 in Detroit. They made their home in Wayne for a short time before moving to East Detroit (now Eastpointe). He lived in Huron Twp. For the last 43 years. John serviced in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He returned to home to become a life long trucker-first doing the long hauls and later locally in and around Detroit. After retirement he found himself back working as a Manager of a Total Gas Station and then working for VJ’s Country Pantry in New Boston. He took an active part in 4-H and could often be seen at the horse shows and fair. He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Jenifer) of Carleton and daughters, Janice of Huron Twp., Laura (Bill) Britt of New Boston and Carol of Romulus; grandchildren Kevin (Heather), Jacklyn and Stephen and great-grandchildren Alexis and Wesley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his granddaughter Kathy Keeler, his parents and his siblings, Betty Thompson, Joanne Wiles and Thomas Keeler.
