Obituary

McKenzie Renee Karas, born on September 18, 1999, in Trenton, Michigan, passed away on September 21, 2025, in Flat Rock, Michigan, at the age of 26.

McKenzie was a compassionate soul who dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse and was just a few weeks shy of reaching her goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Her professional journey was marked by her deep empathy and commitment to helping those in need. McKenzie's selflessness extended beyond her career; she was always eager to ask, "What can I do for you?" or "How are you feeling?"

Her love for life was evident in her many interests. McKenzie adored the great outdoors and could often be found snowmobiling, boating, skiing, or golfing. She relished the simple joys of shopping and wine tasting, activities that brought her happiness and relaxation. As she faced her battles, she found solace and peace in evening golf rides, which allowed her to embrace nature's beauty and tranquility.

McKenzie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ed and Irene Karas, and her stepfather, James Sager. She leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends. Surviving are her father, James Karas, and her mother, Robin Fantene. She is also survived by her significant other of nearly two years, Ryan Pagano, and her cherished grandmother, Annette Fantene. Her brothers, Tyler (Susan) Karas and Ryan (Melinda) Fantene; aunts and uncles Edward (Geraldine) Karas, Larry (Mary Jane) Karas, John (Renee) Karas, Ron (Sharon) Fantene, and Renee (Tim) Warbington; as well as numerous great-aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

McKenzie's warmth and affection extended to her beloved fur children, her cats, Button and Oliver, whom she absolutely adored.

The world has lost a gentle and giving spirit in McKenzie Renee Karas. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
