Obituary

Raymond Eugene "Kamper Ray" Kowalczyk, age 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 26, 2025, in Temperance, Michigan.

Born on January 8, 1940, in Delray Detroit, Michigan, Raymond was the son of Stanley and Stella Kowalczyk. He lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the people around him. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during his military service.

Following his time in the Army, Raymond built a long and steady career as a crane operator at Great Lakes Steel, where he worked for over 40 years. His strong work ethic and commitment to his craft earned him the respect of colleagues throughout his decades of service.

Raymond was known for his kind heart and friendly nature. He found joy in spending time with family, camping, traveling, and was especially fond of playing pinochle at the Bedford Senior Center—a pastime that brought him both camaraderie and countless cherished memories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Kowalczyk, and his brother Stanley Kowalczyk. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Barb (Bob) Prusakiewicz; his brother Robert (Deborah) Kowalczyk; His children Jesscia Gosselin; Geraldine (Colin) Abare; His grandchildren Raymond (Cheryl) Gosselin; Jacob Gosselin; Colin (Michelle) Abare Jr; His great grandchild Benjamin Gosselin; as well as all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Raymond’s warmth and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
