Obituary
Richard Leo Krug, born on April 3, 1932, in Munster, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 16, 2026, in Belleville, Michigan, at the age of 94.
A devoted and multifaceted individual, Richard led a life rich with service, adventure, and love. An elder at Woodland Church, he found joy in serving his community and was known for his unwavering faith and kindness. Richard was a man of many talents and interests, including his passion for flying as a pilot, beekeeping, sailing, and ice boating. His love for the outdoors was evident through his many travels, hiking expeditions, and appreciation for bird watching and feeding.
Richard's compassion extended beyond borders as he participated in missionary work in China, Russia, and Kosovo, and offered aid during Hurricane Katrina. In Detroit, he worked tirelessly with the Bread of Life ministry to feed the homeless, reflecting his deep commitment to helping those in need. His zest for life was further demonstrated through his enthusiasm for square dancing, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and his ability to tackle any project as a true jack of all trades.
Proudly serving his country, Richard was a member of the Marine Corps. He was an engineer at Ford Motor Company for 35 years and was a proud alumnus of Cresson High School and St. Francis College, where he attended on a football scholarship. Earlier in his career, he contributed to the Pennsylvania Railroad and played a role in surveying the Alaskan Highway.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn; his parents, Archibald and Eleanor Krug; and his siblings, Geraldine, Robert, Patricia, and James. He leaves behind a loving family: his three children, Karen (Barry) White, Kevin (Gina) Krug, and Ken (Michelle) Krug; six cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) White, Kristen (Mack) White, Jacob (Victoria) Krug, Jonathan (Nada) Krug, Joshua (Janelle) Krug, and Joseph Krug; and his siblings, Donna, George, Mildred, Laverne, Paul, Joe, and Jack.
Richard Leo Krug will be remembered for his generous spirit, adventurous heart, and unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the love he shared with all who knew him.
