Obituary

Robert “Bob” Eugene Kositz passed away on April 11, 2026, in Trenton Michigan, surrounded by his wife Deborah, six surviving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends.

Bob was born in Taylorville, Illinois on September 2, 1934, to Frank Martin Jr. and Frances (Izatt) Kositz.  Bob’s family moved to Detroit when he was 4 years old and he attended Detroit Public Schools, graduating from MacKenzie High School in 1952.  Bob married his high school sweetheart, Louise Burnick and started a family in 1952.  He worked various construction and U.S. Mail jobs before joining his parents’ carpet installation business, Reliable Carpet in Lincoln Park, Michigan.  In the 1970s, Bob and his brother Frank started a carpet distributorship, Downriver Carpet, in Wyandotte, Michigan.  He enjoyed his retirement jobs, spending time with family and traveling.

Bob and Louise raised 4 boys in Detroit and Trenton, Michigan.  After Louise passed in 1978, he married Deborah “Debbie” Stone in 1981.  Bob and Debbie raised two daughters and one son in Trenton and Hartland, Michigan, and would have celebrated 45 years of marriage this August.  Bob raised children from when he was 18 until he turned 72.   Bob always said family is the most important thing in life.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Louise, mother and father Frances and Frank Martin Jr. Kositz, brother Frank Martin Kositz III (Carol), sister Joann Beaudrie (Jack), and eldest son Robert James Kositz (Linda).  He is survived by his wife Deborah, his children William Frank Kositz (Angela) of Longview, Washington; John Eugene Kositz of Severna Park, Maryland; Brian Craig Kositz (Susan) of Canton, Michigan; Jessica Lynn Reeves (Scott) of Sunnyvale, California; Heather Nicole Kositz (Jake) of Lincoln Park, Michigan; and Kyle Ross Kositz (Victoria) of Plano, Texas; as well as many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Bob’s life.
