RUTH E KONECNY, 89Ruth Elizabeth Sauer Konecny, died at 2:13AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at The Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan due to acute respiratory failure and numerous complications. Ruth was born February 21, 1928 in Staten Island, New York, to Conrad and Elsa Sauer. Ruth married Alois John Konecny on June 17, 1950, who preceded her on June 16, 1994. Ruth is survived by her two children: Gerard Alois Konecny (Mari Korzenowski) of Bolivia, North Carolina; Susan Ruth Jurecki (Michael) of Woodhaven, Michigan; her brother, Conrad Ferdinand Sauer, Jr of Plainfield, New Jersey; and by her seven Grand Dogs & Cats (Meshu, Gipper, Hedgie, Sampson, Hallie, Tiki, and Jinx). Ruth was a long-time resident of Tinton Falls, New Jersey from 1966 until she moved to Michigan in 2012 to live with her daughter.Ruth loved crocheting, ceramics, and arts & crafts, especially when participating with the Crafty Christians of Luther Memorial Church in Tinton Falls; where she was an active member. Ruth graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1946 and started her working career as a telephone operator for New York Telephone. After taking a break to raise her kids, she returned to work as the friendly voice at the main switchboard at Riverview Hospital, and then over to Monmouth County National Bank both in Red Bank, New Jersey. MCNB merged with Colonial National Bank which merged with Fidelity Union Bank in New Brunswick where Ruth retired in 1991. Ruth had a cheerful laugh and a very kind heart, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family whenever possible.
