Obituary

William Walter Kurtzhals, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 88. Born on November 15, 1936, in Romulus, Michigan, Bill lived a life marked by dedication to his family and his work.

Bill was the proud owner of a pipefitting company and was a respected member of Pipefitters Local 636. His commitment to his craft and his community was evident throughout his career.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Esther Kurtzhals; his sister, Irene Starkey; and his brothers, Fredrick and Ervin Kurtzhals, Jr. 

Bill leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Judy, and their children: Bill (Erica) Kurtzhals, Leslie (Steve) Castignola, and Paul (Laura) Kurtzhals. He was a devoted grandfather to Bill (Ashley) Kurtzhals, Jason (Ashleigh) Kurtzhals, Bo (Meg) Castignola, Marissa (James) Coniff, Dori (Austin) Swiercz, Thorn Kurtzhals, Jodi Kurtzhals, and Nadia Kurtzhals. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren: Jacob, Kaelyn, William, Lawrence, Alayna, Beckham, Brynn, and Logan. Bill is also survived by his brother, Ralph Kurtzhals, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a memorial service at 6:00 PM, at Arnoldo's Banquet Center, located at 18275 Quarry Rd., Riverview, MI 48193. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man whose life touched so many.
