Obituary

Allan Lauhoff, age 80, formerly of Taylor, MI, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at the Hospice House in Cheboygan, MI. Allan was born in Detroit, MI, January 24, 1931 to parents Edgar and Frances (Boyce) Lauhoff. Allan enlisted in the Army November 24, 1948 and was stationed in Germany until July 3, 1950. In October, 1950, he was sent to Korea. He was on the front lines and was wounded in battle in January, 1951. (He was awarded the Purple Heart many years later, in 2001.) He married Mary Terry in 1953 and they made their home in Taylor, MI. Allan worked as a truck driver for 30 years, was a Teamster and retired from the Jones Transfer Company in June, 1991 after 24 years with the company. Allan and Mary retired to Cheboygan, MI in June, 1992 and enjoyed boating from their new home on the Black River. Winters were spent in Hudson, FL and attending Army (Love Company) reunions in the spring on their way home. Allan is survived by his wife Mary, son Terry Lauhoff, daughter Nancy (Fred) Anderson and grandson, Matthew Anderson. His parents, brother Edgar, sisters Betty Hyman, Shirley Coward and Martha Chandler preceded him in death. He is also survived by his half brother, John Prybok. Allan was a member of the Mackinaw City Bible Church in Mackinaw City, MI and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3623 in Cheboygan, MI.
