Obituary

Anthony Joseph Leonard, Jr., a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on July 6, 2025, in Otsego County, Michigan. He was born on August 15, 1994, in Garden City, Michigan, and lived a life full of warmth and generosity, reaching the age of 30.

Anthony was a Maintenance Mechanic at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), where his dedication and skill were greatly appreciated by colleagues and friends alike. His work was more than just a job; it was an extension of his natural inclination to fix, mend, and improve everything around him.

Known for his love of the outdoors and a widly adventurous spirit, Anthony found joy in fishing, hunting, and boating. These activities were not just hobbies but ways he connected with nature and those he loved. He was happiest with a fishing rod in hand or steering a boat across a serene lake.

A kind-hearted individual, Anthony found great satisfaction in teaching others, sharing his skills and knowledge with patience and enthusiasm. He was a natural leader, someone people gravitated toward, not just for guidance but also for friendship. He had a gift for making everyone feel included and valued.

Anthony was also a talented cook, finding immense pleasure in preparing meals from the wild game he harvested which brought his family and friends together. His culinary creations were expressions of his love and care, and gathering around the table was always a cherished time.

He was a devoted and loving father to his daughter, Avery, whose presence was the light of his life. His legacy will live on through her inherited wild spirit and the countless lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.

Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wiley Denny, Gail and Ronnie Leonard, and Robert Sawitski, Sr. He is survived by his cherished wife, Brittney, and beloved daughter, Avery Leonard. He leaves behind his parents, Anthony (Jodie) Leonard, Sr. and Paula (Robert) Sawitski; his siblings Nicholas (Beena) Sawitski, Austin Sawitski, Heaven Sawitski, Trent Waltiere, Ricky Waltiere, Destini Mowrer, and Leon Shannon; and nieces and nephews Ellie, Enzo, Kolton, Laiya, and Alex. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends will also carry his memory forward.

Anthony Joseph Leonard, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
