It is with great sadness and some joy that we message the passing of Anthony (Tony) Michael Lollio, from Brighton. Great sadness for those who knew and loved him and yet joy that he is no longer suffering from ALS. We know he is with his Savior, whole, healthy, and in the company of family members who have gone on before. Tony was born on February 7, 1980 and passed on December 16, 2018. An inscribed headstone would have the dash that so many wonder about. The dash which represents our lives and accomplishments while on this earth. Tony’s 38 years – while way too short – was full, as those who knew him best could attest. He served his country in the army (Sergeant E-5) for 6 years, then went on to become a heavy equipment operator in his father’s company, and finally (and very happily) at the Rock Shoppe. Tony was a talented poet, song writer, a fisherman to the point that fish really did fear him. But Tony’s greatest love and proudest accomplishment was his family – wife Kate, Eva (14), Francesca (6) and Penniman (4). Even though ALS robbed him of all that made Tony “Tony” – his ability to speak/sing, his ability to write, his ability to walk – the disease could not rob his determination to continue communicating using a specialized computer. Some of his most powerful writings, posts, poems songs and stories came about while enduring the paralyzing effects of ALS. So many have messaged how they have been impacted by Tony’s wisdom, his humor, his insight and his perseverance and strength during the past 7 years since being diagnosed. Tony was humbled and blessed by all those that contacted him with their admiration and thanks. In addition to his wife and children, Tony leaves behind a loving and heartbroken family: Parents Marco and Sharon; Brothers Marco Jr., Jason and Cameron; and sisters Tia, Leann and Jacquelyn. Tony also leaves countless aunts, uncles, brother- and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, army buddies and friends who are grieving that their lives and the world has lost such a wonderful and caring man.
