Barbara Gail Lowery, aged 88, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, in Livonia, Michigan. She was born on October 7, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, and went on to live a life rich with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
Throughout her career, Barbara worked diligently as a Bank Teller and later as an Assistant Manager, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and kind spirit. Her work was complemented by her passion for sewing, which began in her youth. Barbara found great joy in quilting baby blankets for hospitals, a testament to her generous nature and nurturing heart.
Barbara loved to travel, a passion that took her to delightful destinations and memorable experiences. One notable journey led her to Arizona, where, after visiting her best friend, she called her daughter with the surprising news of purchasing a house there. She later built a home and enjoyed living in a vibrant community alongside sixteen dear friends. Her adventurous spirit also saw her traveling to support her granddaughter's skating endeavors, earning her the affectionate title of "grandma groupie" with the Dearborn Crystallettes. Her travels even extended to Finland, where she proudly watched her granddaughter compete.
Barbara is preceded in death by her devoted spouse, James Lowery; her siblings, Judith Michalski and Greg (Lyn) Neibert; and her sister-in-law, Sandy Neibert. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Suzanne (Mario) Rocca and Jeffrey (Tonette) Lowery; her grandchildren, Heather (Nicolas) Cannon, Ashley (Paul) Gardella, Shannon Lowery, and Craig Lowery; and her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jackson, and Aiden. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Neibert, and brother-in-law, Raymond Michalski.
Barbara's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and warmth. Her legacy will continue to touch the lives of those she loved and those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In Lieu of flowers family has asked to make memorial contributions to the James G. Lowery Foundation – Eastern Michigan University or Angela Hospice Livonia in her honor.
