LINCOLN, Doris, age 93, of Taylor, May 12, 2018. Beloved wife of the late William R. Lincoln. Loving mother of Terrylynn Lincoln, Charles Lincoln and Martha (Einar) Tjolsen. Dearest grandmother of William (Amy) Lincoln, Jonathon (Judy) Lincoln, Kate (Justin) Saylor, Robert (Kendra) MacDougall, Bethany (Craig) Hermiller and Jacob Tjolsen and great-grandmother of Garrett, Ella, Abby, Haley, Drew, Emily, William and Eleanor. Our mother, Doris, was born in New Salem, Pennsylvania to the Bittner family in 1924. She had two sisters and two brothers. Her father was a coal miner and her mother owned small convenience stores, which served their local community before, during, and after the Great Depression. Her parents' focus on their church and their children gave the family the strength to persevere during those hard times. Mother got her gift for selling and generosity from her mother. This became her passion throughout her life. Mother got married when she was 22 years old to William Lincoln, who she met at her mother’s convenience store. What attracted her to him was his faith. They raised 4 children. In 1966, Doris and William moved to Dearborn, Michigan. Their goal was to provide us with more opportunities than they had known. Using her business knowledge and selling skills, she started her own company, Michigan Workshop for the Blind, in the late 1960’s. Both she and her business thrived in what had previously been a “male only” field, selling industrial janitorial supplies and products. She remained fully active in her business until she retired at the youthful age of 89. Her passion in life was to provide the less fortunate with jobs and mentor them to not only achieve a strong work ethic, but to also become confident employees. It’s sometimes hard for us to think of Mother apart from her role as a businesswoman. Others who knew her tell stories of her generosity in welcoming anyone that came to her door. She never turned anyone away without them feeling better because of their encounter with her. Mrs. Lincoln touched many souls and could fill a room with her personality. She will be missed by anyone who had the honor of meeting her. She is preceded in death by her son William E. Lincoln, her parents Charles and Ella Bittner, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Lots of love and prayers to my Michigan family. I have fond memories of days gone by. Doris and my mother are first cousins but I always referred to Doris as my Aunt. I have learned so much from Doris. She was a successful business Entrepreneur I admired Doris. I will always remember in my youth counting down the days that I got to go to Michigan and spent the summer with my brother Mickey and my Aunt Doris. We worked when we stayed with Doris. I remember waking up at Doris house and I was still in my PJ’s and the van was loaded and I would climb in the van morning breath and all. Sometimes Marty drove sometimes Charles drove and we always went to Dunkin Donuts and we would drive around Michigan and deliver supplies to businesses and individuals. I loved it. Uncle Bill would come home for lunch and I would walk to the corner store and buy deli meats, cheeses and bread along with mustard. We would have lunch with Uncle Bill while Aunt Doris answered the incoming calls and we would load up the van and hit the highway. My Aunt Doris made our summers memorable. Thank you ! You taught me so much. You are with God and I can hear you singing!!! I love you and thank you when I needed you and your family the most you were their... Thank GOD for you! What a wonderful lady and neighbor! She was always a joy to be around and had a way of lighting up the room. Mrs.Lincoln was a big inspiration in my life. I have so many good memories with her. She taught me work ethic and many more things. No doubt she was 1 in a million. So sorry for your loss we loved granny Lincoln for as long as I have lived I knew from a young age going to her house getting bubble gum and mints always had candy for us I hope she has a great time in heaven with my nana and papa love you all!! Ashley Anthony
