Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jonathon "Jon" Ryan LaForest, who departed this life on August 6, 2026, at the age of 40. Born on August 4, 1986, in Westland, Michigan, Jon's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and service.

Jon was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment. Following his military service, he continued to serve his country by working in logistics for the United States government. His work was characterized by diligence and integrity, reflecting his unwavering dedication to his nation.

A man of many passions, Jon was deeply family oriented. He was a wonderful husband to his beloved wife, Amanda, and a devoted father to his cherished children, Gavin and Gina. Known for his easy-going nature and kind heart, Jon was a true warrior in every sense, facing life's challenges with strength and grace.

Jon had a zest for life that was evident in his love for cooking and his enthusiasm for collecting sports cards. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Michelle Nail, and his brother, Michael LaForest. Jon leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his wife Amanda, his children Gavin and Gina, his father Anthony LaForest, and his brother Tony LaForest, as well as many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a service at 3:00 PM. Jon will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park, where he will be honored for his service and remembered for his kindness and love.

Jonathon Ryan LaForest will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
