
Obituary
Joseph Laiklam, born November 5, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, departed this world peacefully on February 24, 2025, in Tecumseh, Michigan, at the age of 92. His passing was due to natural causes.
Joseph's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and passion. He built his career as a Warehouse Foreman with the Michigan Liquor Commission, from which he eventually retired. His professional life was marked by his commitment and responsibility, traits that he carried into all aspects of his life.
A man of varied interests, Joseph had a deep love for classic movies and music from the 50’s which provided him countless hours of joy and reflection. His fondness for classic cars was well-known among family and friends. He also spent days working in the yard, maintaining the beauty of his outdoor space and caring for the local wildlife that would visit his yard in Taylor. He along with wife also delighted in treasure hunting for antiques, always on the lookout for unique finds that told stories of the past.
In his earlier years, Joseph honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a searchlight operator. His service was a point of pride and a defining chapter in his long and full life.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, and cherished daughter, Kristi (Josie) Byrne. He was also predeceased by his sons, Joseph Laiklam, Thomas Pinkham, sister Lorraine Shefferly, brother William Laiklam, and parents Joseph and Christina.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: sons Mark (Kim) Laiklam, Gregory (Renee) Pinkham, and Steven (Dawn) Pinkham; daughter Jacqueline (Kim) Zeune; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Joseph is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gloria Laiklam, and his best friend of 77 years, Ray Setsuda, whose friendship was a source of great companionship and joy throughout his life.
Joseph will be remembered privately with Military Honors, in recognition of his service to the nation. His family and close friends will continue to honor his memory by cherishing the moments they shared and the wisdom he imparted.
