Obituary

Leemaster, Robert J., age 91. Beloved husband of the late Florence. Loving father of Gary and the late Karen. He is also survived by his grandchildren and his son-in-law Tyge Cawthon. Robert “Bob” Leemaster was born on April 16, 1920 to John and Ruth Leemaster near Toledo, Ohio, one of 8 children. During WWII Bob served in the Navy aboard a Mine Sweeper and saw action in Europe and witnessed the surrender of Japan. Bob met Florence Perkins while in the Navy. They continued correspondence through the mail and soon after an honorable discharge from the Navy, Bob and Florence were married - November 2, 1946. They made their first home in Detroit. On August 17, 1951 their first child Gary Robert Leemaster was born. Five years later on October 8, 1956 Gary would be joined by his sister Karen Sue Leemaster. During this time, the family moved to Redford and then Livonia creating many happy family memories along the way. Bob enjoyed a long career as an electrician working briefly at Desoto before moving to Ford’s Wixom Assembly plant where spent the next 30 years. After retirement Florence and Bob enjoyed spending summers in Michigan and winters in Kissimmee, Florida.
