Robert James Lenz, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 73. Born in Riverview, Michigan, on November 1, 1952, Robert lived a life full of creativity, passion, and love for his family.
He was a man who found joy in the art of creation. A master electrician and electrical inspector serving six communities, Robert took great pride in his work and was respected for his knowledge, skill and dedication to his trade. Whether building intricate models, crafting slot cars, or constructing furniture, Robert's hands were always busy bringing his visions to life. His crowning achievement was the home he built with dedication and care, a testament to his skill and love for craftsmanship.
In addition to his love for building, Robert enjoyed the mental challenges of puzzles and found solace in playing the piano. He embraced the great outdoors through camping adventures, boating excursions, and off-roading trips, sharing these moments with those he cherished most. For nearly a decade, Robert and his wife Venessa owned and operated a pizzeria, where their warmth and hospitality touched the lives of many in the community.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Venessa Lenz, whose unwavering partnership and love were a cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind three caring daughters: Stephanie (Matt) Baker, Jennifer (Tyler) Johnson, and Michelle (Will) Simon. His legacy continues through his seven adoring grandchildren: Hailey, Lilly, and Zachary Johnson; Whitney and Audrey Baker; and Blaire and William Simon. He will also be missed by his loyal fur baby, Zoey, who brought him much joy and companionship.
Preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Frances Lodico, Robert's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will cherish the moments spent together and the love he shared so generously.
Robert James Lenz will be remembered as a man of integrity, creativity, and boundless love for his family, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert's honor may be made to the River Rouge Animal Shelter.
