Obituary

Bonnie Jean McKenzie, born on January 7, 1943, in Perry County, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2024, in Woodhaven, Michigan, at the age of 81.

Bonnie devoted her life to being a loving homemaker, cherishing each moment spent with her family. Her heart was especially warmed by the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A lover of all things colorful, Bonnie found joy in the beauty of flowers and nurtured her flower garden with dedication. She embraced life with a spirit of adventure, enjoying travel and being out and about.

Bonnie was a member of the Woodhaven Freewill Baptist Church, where she found community and faith among friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James McKenzie; her parents Lawrence McIntyre and Maggie Hall; her brother Ronnie Gene McIntyre; and her very special aunt, Billie Hall.

Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of love with her surviving family: her children Jerry (Beth) Sheppard, Alena Sheppard, and Michael (Mary) Sheppard; her cherished grandchildren Nicholas (Dr. Rebekah) Sheppard, Christine (Austin) Arksey, Joshua Sheppard, Sara Williams, Sandra LaVack, Magen (Shawn Collum) Bonk, and Melanie (Tyler Servio) Sheppard; and 15 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother Robert Neal (Vivian) York.

Bonnie will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her devotion to family, and the colorful presence she brought into the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.
