Obituary

On March 22nd 2026, Edith Mae Moose passed peacefully in the early morning at the age of 84. Edith was the glue to her family. Her and her late husband, David Moose, spent their lives building a safe haven for their family. Edith was a provider through and through, always ensuring everyone was clothed and fed. She always showed up for her family.

Edith spent her early years in Taylor Michigan attending Roosevelt High School. She met her husband at the age of eighteen. They quickly married in Saline, MI and traveled out west. Edith had a keen eye for design working as an interior designer and drapery seamstress. David and Edith were a team unmatched. They spent years working together and eventually ran their own successful business. Edith then went on to many years of dedicated work at McLaughlin's in which she eventually retired.

Edith and David spent their lives being a shining example of true love and devotion. They were dedicated to their families and their craft. They took time to invest in property which with their bare hands turned into homes for their family. Edith played a major part in her own kids, grandkids, and great grandkids lives. She expressed in her last moments that watching and taking part in her grandchildren’s lives were some of the greatest moments of her life. She was the first person to step up in a time of need and open a spot in her home to family and strangers alike. Edith and David were the type of people to build a new room in their house before turning someone away. Their final home was like no other. It was a gathering place for celebrations, holidays, and game nights. Edith’s favorite holiday was Christmas where she spent months picking out the perfect gifts and individual ornaments for each person. She was a giver and always wanted everyone whether new or old to feel included.

David and Edith had a wild side to them as well. They traveled around the states building and racing go carts with their daughter Connie. Edith was also a lover of the arts. As a girl, she had dreams of being a dancer. She lived out her dream by putting her daughter Elizabeth and grandchildren into classes the first chance she had. Edith spent endless hours at dance competitions, performances, and watching dance videos with her daughter and grandchildren. She spent much of her later years elbow deep in painting. Edith expanded her knowledge of art at Wayne County Community College and was a part of the Downriver Council of the Arts. She had a true eye for detail and blessed her family with endless portraits that we will cherish forever.

Edith was blessed with a full family in which she was eternally grateful for. She is survived by her daughters Connie Hudkins and Elizabeth Townley. Her grandchildren Christina Hudkins, Michael Hudkins, Miranda Hudkins (Brandon), Josh Hudkins (Gina), Kylie Townley (Alex), and Kaitlyn Townley. Her great grandchildren Edith, Dylan, Kaden, Bijou, Hadley, Liam, and Zane. She leaves behind her sisters Joette (William) Morden and Michaelyn Willman as well as her cat Tara who laid by her side until the end. She has been reunited in heaven with her husband of 63 years David Moose, grandson Bradley Hudkins, her parents Rosetta Cullen and Wilber Earnest Armstrong Sr., her siblings Wilber (Survived by LaRita) Armstrong, Russell (Karen) Moose, Gloria Moose, Marylan (Edward) Daniel, Barbara Toth, and Vivian (Gill) Monastersky.

Edith will forever be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. As her favorite book states, We will love her forever, Like her for always, As long as we're living, our Grandma she’ll be.

-Kylie Townley

  • My Aunt Edith will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She has been a great teacher and inspiration in my life. Some of my earliest memories are of family get-togethers at her house. She always had a great sense for fun and will always be remembered as my greatest rival at Scrabble and Boggle. I’ll always appreciate the art she brought into my life, and more than that the love. There was never a bigger heart than hers. Thanks for the bluejay at my window this morning. Give my love to the fam! Love, Cris Niece Cristia
