Obituary
Gene Raymond Mies, born on October 19, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, in Pompano Beach, Florida, at the age of 87.
A dedicated powerhouse mechanic at Ford Motor Company, Gene spent his career embodying the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. It was at Ford where he met his loving wife Betty. Together, they shared 28 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Gene’s life was a testament to his family and appreciation of the world around him. He found immense joy in boating and fishing, often spending serene days on the water, surrounded by nature. His fascination with birds of prey and ability to grow delicate orchids reflected his deep admiration for both strength and beauty. Evenings shared with family and friends over a game of cards were among his favorite pastimes, bringing smiles and warmth to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Walter and Martha Mies. Gene leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: his devoted wife, Betty; his children, Cynthia Mies, Sandra Mullally, Dianna Dryer and her husband Ray Dryer, and Robert Mies; and his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Dryer, Georgia Mies, Hannah Karoubi, and Madison Mies.
Gene's vibrant spirit and unwavering love for his family will be celebrated at a service on September 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Michigan Memorial Chapel in Flat Rock, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Gene's honor, reflecting his enduring commitment to helping others.
He will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
