Obituary
James Donald McCoy, born on October 7, 1956, raised in Taylor, Michigan, passed away on June 15, 2026, in Grosse Ile, Michigan, at the age of 69.
Jim was a man who was not afraid of hard work. To his colleagues at Ford Motor Company, he had a natural ability for problem solving. To his family, he was the man who taught us the value of your word, to never stop learning, and to always help others if you can. He enjoyed tinkering with antique radios, woodworking and a good cup of coffee in the morning, but his true passion was the art of fishing. He could spend hours casting his line with patience and skill and no day was a bad day to go fishing. His hands were never idle, as he had a knack for fixing anything that needed repair.
Though Michigan was his home, Jim held a special place in his heart for North Carolina, a state whose beauty and tranquility captivated him since he was a small child. The lakes and rivers there were his paradise.
Above all, he loved his family. His guidance, strength and sense of humor will forever be missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Gail, and his parents, James and Joan McCoy.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Barb McCoy, who stood by his side through life's many seasons. He leaves behind his children, Jim (Stacey) McCoy and Katie (Robert) Peters, who will carry forward his legacy of love and dedication. His grandchildren, Shaelin and Kellan, were his pride and joy, bringing light and laughter into his life. Jim is also survived by his siblings, Dave and Laura, who shared in his life's journey.
Jim will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, for his generosity, his kindness, and his ability to find beauty in the simple things.
