Obituary

Jeff Michael Mitchell, passed away on May 26, 2025, in Romulus, Michigan, at the age of 59. Born on March 5, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, Jeff lived a life filled with love, adventure, and community spirit.

An avid bicycle rider, Jeff spent countless hours exploring the trails and roads, finding joy and freedom on two wheels. His passion for travel was evident in his love for cruising and vacationing, with Houghton Lake, Michigan holding a special place in his heart as a cherished retreat.

Jeff's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was an active member of his church, Metro City, where he contributed his time and energy to supporting the community and fostering fellowship.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Mitchell. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Mitchell; his children, Justin (Anjelica) Mitchell, Ashlie (Carl) Head, John (Stephani) Billings, and Kyle Billings; and his beloved grandchildren, Lily Bretzloff, Grace Billings, Molly Billings, and Myla Mitchell. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Mitchell, along with four loving siblings whose support and companionship he treasured.

Throughout his life, Jeff touched the hearts of many with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and friends who hold his memory dear.

Please feel free to make a donation in Jeff’s name to The Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Condolences

  • I am devastated to learn of Jeff's passing. We were childhood friends. He and I build bicycles from scrap parts that we cobbled together when we were in the fourth grade. Our builds were popular enough for Mr. Roberts, our teacher, to tell the class Jeff and I should go into business. A few years later, I scored main floor tickets - as a 13 year old - to Bob Seger at Cobo Hall on June 15, 1980. Of course, my pal Jeff accompanied my father, my younger brother who stood in for our mutual friend Ronnie Rickman who could not go because he got grounded - and me. We had a blast - and we are part of the crowd cheering during "Brave Strangers" - immortalized on the Nine Tonite live album. Years later, at some class reunion, Jeff and I ran into each other. The first thing he said was how much that concert meant to him. These are the fond memories of my dear friend Jeff. Through the tears I have shed today, these are the memories that made me smile. Thank you Jeff - it was my privilege to have known you. Tim S.
  • Sandy and family: so sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing. He was so young and should have had many more years in this world. May his soul rest in everlasting peace. Prayers for Jeff and your family. Janet Hendrie (Scott & Steve Hendrie)
  • Jeff renovated and restored our cottage into our home. We had many laughs when I wanted to repurpose something old, and he wanted to buy new. He always let me win. His attention to detail was outstanding and our house is a testament to his craftsmanship. He was also a good soul. He was kind and generous with his time and his love. Jeff was a fine man, gone too soon. Our lives were richer having known him. Chuck and Marilyn Svaluto
  • Jeff was a true man of faith, living his Christian values every single day, even when it wasn't the popular thing to do. His faith was his rock, guiding everything he did and inspiring the people around him. Jeff was known for his dry sense of humor and quick wit, but what really stood out about Jeff was his fierce loyalty. You saw it most clearly in his deep love for his family and also in his friendship with his business partner, Mike. Their bond was much more than just work; it was a true friendship built on respect. Jeff leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, and incredible loyalty. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to have known him. Jeff was a good guy. Mike Toschi & family
  • I had the privilege of knowing Jeff and to have rode many many miles with him and my brother and others every year for the kids of Make A Wish. He was a great man and a good soul. He made our 3 day adventure for the kids of Make A Wish a blast, packed with many funny stories that just make me smile out of the blue. I truly hope to latch on to your back wheel for a most epic bike ride again someday my friend. Thank you for your great sense of humor your calm demeanor and most of all your friendship. We will most certainly miss you Jeffro. Duane Hanson
