Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Margaret Murray, who departed this life on March 4, 2025, in Taylor, Michigan, at the age of 89. Born on December 26, 1935, Joan lived a life rich in love, family, and cherished traditions.
Joan was a devoted mother to her children, James (Bernice) Murray and Jacqueline (Michael) Slaviero. She took immense pride in being a grandmother to Jimmy, Joshua (Ilse), Jonathan (Morrow), Nicholas, and Adam. Her role as a beloved great-grandmother to four brought her great joy and fulfillment.
Family was at the heart of Joan's life. She treasured the annual family vacations to Wildwood, New Jersey at the Jersey Shore, where she created lasting memories with her loved ones. Sundays held a special place in her heart, as she welcomed her family into her home for cherished dinners together.
Together with her husband James, whom she now joins in eternal rest, Joan enjoyed the simple pleasure of garage saling, ever in search of nik naks and hidden treasures. An aficionado of classic movies, she delighted in the timeless allure of westerns and musicals.
Joan's passion for sports was evident in her unwavering support for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and U of M football. Her enthusiasm for these teams was matched only by the joy she found in her yearly vacations with her sisters, creating bonds that endured through the years.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, James Murray; her parents, John and Sophie Berish; and her sisters, Sophie, Helen, and Mary Alice, Joan leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience.
Joan's warmth, spirit, and devotion to her family will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before her.
The family would also like to give a big thank you to Angela Hospice with their love and care while taking care of their dear mother in her final days.
In lieu of flowers the family appreciates memorial donations.
