Obituary
Joseph Alan McDermott, born January 28, 1966, in Howell, Michigan, passed away on August 16, 2024, in Dearborn, Michigan, at the age of 58.
Joseph was a man of many passions and interests. He had a knack for fixing everything he could get his hands on, and his perfectionist nature ensured that everything was done just right. Joseph loved to travel, often embarking on vacations with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Known for his strongly opinionated views and rough exterior, those who took the time to know him discovered a heart of gold. He had a unique bond with animals, particularly squirrels, and made frequent trips to Menards to purchase peanuts and sunflower seeds to feed them. His love for children was evident in the joy he found interacting with them.
Joseph is preceded in death by his father, John McDermott; brother, Tom McDermott; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Suzanne McDermott; daughters, Amanda McDermott, Savannah (Kevin K.) McDermott, and Erin Roksandich; son, Ethan Roksandich; and granddaughter, Gabriella. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Huhman, his brothers, John (Patty) McDermott, Tim (Betty) McDermott, and half-brother Jerry (Tom) Ward; sister, Sherri (Deniss) McDermott-Gillette; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joseph’s life during the visitation on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a service at 6:00 PM. Interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park.
Joseph's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, love for animals, and dedication to his family will forever be remembered.
