Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Mariano, Jr., who departed this life on January 21, 2025, in his hometown of Monroe, Michigan. Born on June 30, 1953, Joseph graced this world for 71 years, touching the lives of all who knew him with his warm spirit and genuine love for life.

Joseph's journey was beautifully enriched by his deep and unwavering love for his wife, Tina Mariano, with whom he shared 47 cherished years. Their story began through a chance meeting with a friend while cruising, leading to a lifetime of memories filled with love and companionship. Together, they ventured with their daughter Kristy on a memorable cruise to Mexico and the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, and often found joy and solace at their property and cabin up north.

A man of many passions, Joseph found peace and contentment in the great outdoors, enjoying both hunting, fishing, gardening and riding his Harley. His culinary skills were revered by family and friends alike; he was a remarkable cook and baker, humorously dubbed "Mrs. Betty Crocker" by Tina for his delectable desserts. Italian food was a particular favorite, and his creations brought joy to countless gatherings.

Joseph's affection extended beyond his human family. He held a special place in his heart for animals, especially for his beloved furbaby, Skipper. His talents were not limited to the kitchen; he also delighted in working on cars, finding satisfaction in the intricate work they required. He worked as a hi-lo driver for GM for 38 wonderful years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Mariano, Sr. and Josephine Mariano, his beloved daughter Kristy Mariano, and his sister Marilou Stininger, Joseph carried their memories with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tina Mariano, whom he married on January 28, 1982 - they were married for 43 years; his cherished grandson Dominicio and his partner Shaylin; and his precious great-granddaughter, Violet. Joseph was also a treasured uncle to Jeff and Jason, and his presence will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we remember Joseph, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an enduring passion for the simple and meaningful joys that life offered. His legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of those who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
