
Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Landace Marie May, age 72, who passed peacefully at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe, Michigan, on February 22nd, 2025.
Landace was born on September 17th, 1952, in Paris, Tennessee, to James Paul and Mildred Marie McCain. Over the course of her life, she brought joy and love to all those around her. She was a very special woman and to know her was to know an unwavering love.
Landace dedicated many years of her life to her passion for floral design, serving as a floral manager and creating exquisite arrangements for weddings, proms, and funerals. Her talent extended to decorating Christmas trees for colleges and universities, where her work was admired by many. She was also well-known for her time spent running Double D's in Rockwood, MI, where she touched the lives of countless patrons with her warmth and hospitality.
A devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions, Landace cherished watching games with her family and friends. Her love for music and karaoke brought joy to those around her, and she spent many Sundays playing euchre and providing food for gatherings with friends. Landace enjoyed playing games, cards, and chess with her family, and she had a deep affection for lighthouses and all things beach-related.
Landace was a woman of faith, spreading Jesus' love and the word of God. She owned nearly every book by Joel Osteen and found solace in daily devotionals. A creative soul, she enjoyed reading and writing, having penned some of her own music and poetry.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, grandparents, spouses, and many loved ones. Landace is survived by her only son, Larry; her grandchildren, Brittany, Lawrence "Justin", and Destiny; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters, Fonda and Candace; her brothers, Jim and David; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by a service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Landace's name may be made to the American Cancer Society by clicking the button to the left.
Landace will be greatly missed but will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
