Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Linda Sue (Collins) Myer, age 72, of Woodhaven, Michigan. She died on June 8, 2023, after a short illness. She grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1968. She played piano beautifully and accompanied the school choir when she was in high school. She enrolled at Michigan State University and then took a hiatus to raise her children following her 1972 marriage to Robert Howard. After their marriage ended, she returned to school at Eastern Michigan University, where she was elected to the Golden Key national honor society and graduated in 1993 with a degree in education. She taught preschool for several years in Ann Arbor, while living in Dexter, Michigan. In 1997, she moved to the Columbus, Ohio, area to marry her second husband, William Myer. She enjoyed reading and worked for many years as a librarian at the Marysville Public Library in Marysville, Ohio, where her sessions as “The Storytime Lady” were much beloved by hundreds of children. In 2015, she moved back to Michigan to be closer to family and worked as a librarian at the Trenton Veterans Memorial Library near her Woodhaven home. She said that her greatest accomplishment was raising three children, mostly on her own, and seeing all of them turn out well. She volunteered her time with the Downriver Kiwanis Club, and enjoyed playing trivia with the Kiwanis members, which helped raise money for the club. She kept a beautiful backyard, which she filled with hanging flower baskets and a small vegetable patch, and always ensured the bird feeders were full to welcome as many birds to her home as possible.
Linda is survived by her beloved partner, Joseph Polley; her loving children Adam (Chandra) Howard, Christine (Seth Peabody) Howard, Caitlin (Tyler) Flores, and furbaby Lucy; grandchildren Orion, Leo, Josie, Benno, and Everly; and adoring mother, Joan Collins. She is preceded in death by her second husband William Myer, father Thomas Collins, sister Janice Nichols, and brother Bruce Collins. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation or your local Humane Society.
Her cremation took place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
