Obituary

Louis "King Louie" Martinez of Dearborn, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2026.

He was born in Detroit on January 10, 1936 to Delfino & Lucy. In 1953 he joined the Air Force and served for 4 years in Germany where he met his first wife Marianne. After returning from overseas he began working at the US Post Office driving semi-trucks, where he worked for over 50 years. He was very proud of his long career, finally retiring in 2005. ‘King’ Louie was an avid bowler and was well known in the bowling community.

Louie was preceded in death by his son Victor (Teresa), and his second wife of 37 years Dorothy Jean. Also preceding him were his parents and his siblings Ruth, Vito, Anthony, Josephine, Dolores, Tony, Manuel, and Sophia

He is survived by his children from his first marriage, Virginia Lambert, Vincent (Rosemary), Victoria Griffith and Vernon (Sally), and by his step children, Donna (Brian) and Bob (Tim) and his younger sister Mary.
Louie is further survived by a large family of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

His funeral will be held on April 23rd at 2pm at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a mass of Catholic burial and entombment at Michigan Memorial Cemetery.

  • I bowled with Louie at Woodhaven Lanes for a few seasons. I remember his wooden box adorned with bowling trinkets. He kept his winnings in there. Louie sure was proud of his truck driving career with the postal service. He was a nice man. Scott Beaudrie

Asking me to always tell my siblings that you called to wish them a Happy Birthday. You never forgot to ask about my Michael and what’s he up too.
