Obituary

Marie "Josie" Massengill, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 16, 2025, at her home in Flat Rock, Michigan, at the age of 80. Born on October 15, 1944, in Harrogate, Tennessee, Josie lived a life full of love and joy that touched everyone she encountered.

She was a dedicated bus driver with the Huron Schools for over 20 years, where her kindness and care left a lasting impression on countless students.

Josie had a passion for gardening and spent many joyful hours tending to her flowers, creating beautiful displays that brightened her home and the lives of those around her. She also delighted in decorating for the holidays, transforming her home into a warm and inviting place filled with festive cheer.

Josie is preceded in death by her cherished son, John William Massengill Jr., as well as her nine loving brothers and four loving sisters.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John Massengill of 60 years, and her children, Steve Allen (Cindy) Massengill and Gregory Wayne (Sylina) Massengill. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Hannah, Gideon, Noah, Michael, and Devlyn, and her great-grandchildren, Beau, Ella, and Ford. Josie will also be fondly remembered by her brother, Pete Cosby, along with numerous other family members and friends who were blessed to have known her.

Josie's warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
