Obituary

Mary Ellen Malvitz, lovingly known as Molly, passed away on March 28, 2025, in Monroe, Michigan, at the age of 91. Born on July 11, 1933, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, Molly brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.

Molly dedicated many years of her life as a custodian for Airport Community Schools, where she was known for her steadfast work ethic and welcoming smile. Outside of work, she found joy in visiting the casino and playing bingo, pastimes that offered her relaxation and fun. A true animal lover, she had a special affection for feeding feral cats and ensuring they were cared for.

Her love of reading and crochet reflected her creative spirit, while her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends, who cherished her ability to bring people together through her excellent cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Malvitz, two brothers, and one sister. Her memory will continue to be cherished by her surviving children: Mary (Timothy) Sayles, Thomas (Debra) Malvitz, Annie (Walter) Luszczynski, and Susen (Donald) Wigman. Her legacy extends to her grandchildren: Steven Harold, Kelly Harold, Lindsy (Joseph) Morsaw, Ryan (Sandy) Malvitz, Andy Wigman, and Kate (Andrew) Grow, as well as her twelve adored great-grandchildren.

Molly's cremation will take place at "The Witness Crematory," located inside Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held at a later date to celebrate her life, Inurnment will take place in Michigan Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockwood, Michigan or the Monroe Humane Society.

Molly touched many lives with her kindness, generosity, and zest for life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
